The First 24 to 48 Hours
NeoGraft uses follicular unit extraction, or FUE, which removes individual follicular units rather than taking a strip of scalp from the donor area. There are no stitches or staples and no linear donor scar.
During the first day or two, mild swelling may occur. It usually lasts up to 24 to 48 hours.
You can typically resume normal daily activities within 48 hours, except strenuous exercise. Some people feel comfortable returning to work the day after their procedure.
The First Week
Small pinpoint scabs and redness often remain for about one week as the donor and recipient sites heal.
You’ll need to be careful around the newly transplanted follicles during this period. You may wear a baseball cap after 48 hours, as long as it sits about two inches away from the treated area and doesn’t rub against the grafts.
Follow your individual washing and scalp-care instructions closely rather than treating the area like you normally would.
Weeks Two to Four
You should generally wait about two weeks before returning to strenuous exercise or activities that cause heavy sweating or raise blood pressure.
Another change occurs during the first several weeks: Transplanted hairs commonly shed. The transplanted hair commonly sheds during the first two to four weeks. This is expected, and new hair growth follows as the transplanted follicles move through their growth cycle.
When Will Your New Hair Grow?
Hair restoration is much slower than the initial recovery. New growth develops gradually over the following months, and final NeoGraft results generally develop around nine to 12 months after treatment.
That distinction matters: Your scalp may heal quickly, even though visible hair growth takes many months.
